Best Practices in Managing Specialist Subcontracting Performance

This is the first research initiative jointly funded by the CII-HK with an industry member. In collaboration with the Hong Kong Federation of Electrical and Mechanical Contractors Ltd, CII-HK invited proposals in August 2004 from local and international research communities to identify key issues that affect regulation, procurement, co-ordination and performance of specialist subcontractors in the Hong Kong construction industry. The research aims to provide guiding solutions that integrate new and existing research findings into a total process to help improve current situations and implement effective management of specialist subcontractors. A total of four proposals were evaluated by a special taskforce drawn from the local construction industry. The project was finally awarded to the research team led by Prof Francis Yik of the Department of Building Services Engineering of PolyU. It started in April 2005 and will take 12 months for completion. For detail of the research synopsis, please click here.
