AIM OF CONFERENCE
The Hong Kong construction industry has long been serving as an influential engine for the local economic growth. However, following the Asian economic turmoil in late-1997 and the impact of the emerging construction markets, the industry experienced a drastic transformation in workloads, resources and market structure. To address the challenges facing ahead, the Construction Industry Institutes - Hong Kong (CII-HK) is organising the CII-HK Conference 2008 to identify challenges and opportunities for various construction stakeholders in an effort to build a stronger construction industry for Hong Kong.
The CII-HK Conference 2008 will be a timely forum for industry leaders from various sectors and disciplines to meet and discuss issues that can benefit from the new frontiers in achieving excellence in the sustainable development of the construction industry during the 21st Century. It also offers a unique opportunity for the next generation of leaders to meet and build relationships with their counterparts from other disciplines.

The conference aims to bring together some 150 policy makers, government officers officals, researchers, educators academia, practitioners and other stakeholderse in senior staff representing government departments, educational institutions, client bodies, consulting practices, construction firms, financial institutions and other construction-related organizations organisations for sharing and discuss ion on ing the contemporary issues on the challenges of the construction development in the 21st Century.
The conference programme would focus on strategic directions for the construction industry to move forward. It will also identify what key investments required to maintain the industry's international and domestic competitiveness, what available opportunities will be open for business in construction, and how resources should be planned to facilitate the industry development.
