NEVER SAFE ENOUGH:
A WIDER LOOK AT CONSTRUCTION HEALTH AND SAFETY

Date: 20 November 2007
Venue: Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel

INTRODUCTION

As a construction industry and as a community we cannot take pride in our many dramatic buildings and world class infrastructure if the cost is measured in terms of lives, injuries and broken families. Notwithstanding the steady improvement in site safety over the years, the accident rate for local construction is still unacceptable compared with other developed countries and cities, with many workers and professionals perceiving the industry as hazardous and polluting. Our construction sites are never safe enough.

In response to such concerns the Construction Industry Institutes - Hong Kong (CII-HK) has organized the CII-HK Conference 2007 to explore a wide variety of avenues within the construction procurement and engineering processes that can contribute to the elimination of unacceptable health and safety risks. Innovative ideas, more sophisticated thinking and a commitment to implement are necessary ingredients to protect those who build our city.

Please join us for this important event and we will learn from each other, gain new professional skills, inspire one another and together make a safer workplace.
