INTRODUCTION
With an increasing public interest in the provision of healthy building, the Construction Industry Institute – Hong Kong (CII-HK) and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) have jointly executed a research project which covers the following study areas:
- The Identification of the Key Attributes of Healthy Buildings;
- A Review of Design Standards and Government Regulatory Framework;
- Social and Economic Consideration of Our Built Environment;
- The Quality of the Indoor Environment of Healthy Residential Buildings;
- The Environmental Practices entailing Drainage Stack Contamination in Buildings;
- The Construction Quality and Management of Residential Buildings, and
- Refuse Treatment and Property Management for a Healthy Built Environment.
SUB-THEMES
Experienced distinguished guest speakers from the government, client organisations, healthcare institutions, industry and academia will share their experience on the following sub-themes:

Original research papers on topics relating to the healthy built environment, including but not limited to the conference sub-themes are invited. All submitted papers will be reviewed by the Technical Committee for publication in the conference proceedings. Selected papers will be presented in a poster session. The official language of the conference is English which will be adopted in all publications and presentations.

Construction Industry Institute - Hong Kong
The Construction Industry Institute – Hong Kong (CII-HK) is registered under the Hong Kong Companies Ordinance as a non-political, not-for-profit organisation established in 2001 to offer solution-oriented strategies for the advancement of the construction industry in Hong Kong. It is a joint developed initiative by the industry and academia in Hong Kong. The mission of the CII is to improve continuously all aspects of safety, quality, cost effectiveness and environmental performance of construction through innovation and collaboration in research and implementation by the industry and academia. The CII-HK model was adopted to help the industry to work in collaboration with the local research community to steadily improve the overall performance of the construction industry community through technology upgrading and investment in collaborative research. It has a broad membership comprising government departments, developers, contractors, engineers, architects, surveyors, subcontractors, suppliers, legal advisors and universities.
